Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-18

The short version

Cooking Rebel is a personal recipe library you can save into from your AI chat. By signing up you're agreeing to use it reasonably, not abuse it, and let us run the service. We don't sell your data. You own your recipes; you can export or delete them at any time.

1. The service

Cooking Rebel ("we", "us", "the service") is a recipe-saving service operated at cookingrebel.com. It lets you save, organize, edit, and share recipes — including via AI chat clients that connect to your library through MCP (Model Context Protocol).

2. Your account

You need an account to use most of the service. Account creation is currently free. You must be at least 13 years old — or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if that's higher — to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for what happens under your account. Don't share your account with people pretending to be you. If you suspect unauthorized access, email support@cookingrebel.com.

Authentication is handled by Clerk, which has its own privacy practices we trust to be reasonable. Connecting an AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) issues an OAuth grant scoped to your recipe library — you can revoke it any time at /connect.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload recipes, photos, or notes that infringe someone else's intellectual property, or that contain unlawful, harassing, hateful, or abusive content.
  • Use the service to scrape, mine, or impersonate other users.
  • Try to reverse-engineer, attack, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
  • Send automated traffic in volumes meant to overwhelm the service.
  • Register OAuth clients pretending to be a service you don't operate.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

You own the recipes, notes, and photos you upload. You grant us a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display your content as needed to operate the service for you (e.g., serving the recipe page back to your browser, sending it to an AI client you've authorized).

When you generate a public share link for a recipe, that link lets anyone with the URL view that recipe. You can rotate or revoke a share link any time from the recipe page.

5. Service availability

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We try to keep it up, but we don't guarantee uptime, that it will be error-free, or that any specific feature will continue to exist. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice when practical.

6. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Cooking Rebel and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any direct claim is limited to whatever you've paid us in the past 12 months — which, for free accounts, is $0.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cooking Rebel and its operators from any third-party claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of content you upload, save, import, or share, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms — for example, a claim that a recipe or photo you added or imported infringes someone else's rights. We may take over the defense of any such claim, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.

8. Termination

You can delete your account any time at /account. We can terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms or for other legitimate reasons. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your recipes, photos, notes, and personal data; residual copies in encrypted backups age out within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records by law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.

11. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service and replace any prior understanding. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor (for example, in connection with a merger or sale of the service). Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
